Announcement:
With breaking hearts, we announce the death of Lori Tullos Barta on August 19. Please say a prayer for her wonderful family -- beloved husband Adam and daughters Emma, Hannah and Sarah -- and a prayer of thanks for Lori's too-short and brilliant life. She was a beautiful woman in every way. Her boundless energy was an inspiration to each of us, and she cared deeply about each child with Down syndrome in Central Texas. We will miss her every day.
If you are moved to volunteer, contribute or help, the opportunities include:
- Donate to a trust fund being set up for the family, to support Lori's daughters' needs now and into the future. Make checks payable to Family of Lori Barta (Account # 6249167898). Checks may be sent to DSACT at 3710 Cedar Street, Box 3, Austin, Texas 78705 and we will forward them.
- Donate to DSACT in honor of Lori Barta. Donate here (enter amount and click on donate above) or make checks payable to DSACT, with a note that the gift is in honor of Lori Barta. These gifts will go first to sustain the education programs and services that Lori created and about which she cared so deeply, and then to other DSACT initiatives of greatest need. Lori lived her life in an intense and sustained burst of light, love, energy, creativity and work. She would have done many other fantastic things had she been given more years with us and with her family. As it is, the legacy she leaves will sustain DSACT and our mission as we now go forward together in her honor, even as our hearts are breaking. Her memory will live forever.
